shakeia taylor is a writer with more than a decade of experience in online and print media. though her career began in legal and corporate america, she has always been a writer at heart and in 2016 followed her dream and began a career freelancing in baseball.

as her audience grew, taylor transitioned to writing full-time in 2021. she has written for sb nation, fangraphs, baseball prospectus, mlb dot com, and other online publications. from 2022-2024 taylor was a writer and columnist at the chicago tribune,

an advocate for diversity in journalism, taylor is a member of the national association of Black journalists and the society for american baseball research. she is also a member of the negro leagues and teams committee, a special committee convened to study other leagues and teams from Black baseball history. a multi-time nominee, taylor won a society for american baseball research (SABR) analytics conference research award in 2021 making her the first Black woman to win the prestigious award.

taylor has appeared on podcasts and radio shows in the united states and canada and she can be seen in ESPN’s “the captain” and negro league documentary “the league”. she also hosted a monthly interview series with SABR, ballpark figures.
